When to Use
- Actions happening now
- Something in progress at this moment: 'Look! It is raining.'
- Temporary situations
- Something true for a limited time: 'He is staying with friends this week.'
- Future arrangements
- Plans already confirmed: 'We are meeting at seven tonight.'
Tip
Some verbs are almost never used in the continuous form: know, want, like, love, need, believe, understand. Say 'I want coffee,' not 'I am wanting coffee.'
