When to Use

Basic directions
Turn left, turn right, go straight on, go past the church, cross the bridge.
Position words
'Opposite' means facing it. 'Next to' means beside it. 'Between' means in the middle of two things.

'Excuse me, how do I get to the station?' 'Is there a supermarket near here?'

Tip

Start with 'Excuse me' when asking a stranger for directions. It sounds much more polite than jumping straight to the question.
