When to Use
- in
- Inside enclosed spaces: 'in the box,' 'in the room,' 'in the city.'
- on
- Touching a surface: 'on the table,' 'on the wall,' 'on the second floor.'
- at
- A specific point or location: 'at the bus stop,' 'at home,' 'at work.'
Tip
Say 'at home,' 'at work,' and 'at school' with no article. But say 'in the office,' 'in the kitchen,' and 'in the car' with 'the.'
